Dude could not agree more... When Jesus was temped by the devil what did he use to fight him off... scripture. If our lord needed it during his living existence how much more do we mere mortals need scripture. I dedicated myself to learning a new piece be it 1 vrse or 10 each fortnight for the last 6 years of my seven year walk with Christ and although sometimes you think you may have forgotten or have lost some scripture it is incredible what the Holy spirit can do when needed if we discipline our selves to learning it. . I went to Africa remembering half of what I had memorized and thinking I had forgot the rest when suddenly bamb It was needed aand Holy spirit bought it to mind at just the right time ti help just the right person. If we think that we can do without memorizing scripture eaffectivelty we are saying we are better than Jesus because ehe needded it desperately. What did he say in Matt 4:4 Man does not (REPEAT) Not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the word of God. I have scripture stuck everywhere around my house and room often all the same untill it sinks in. Then do the same with the next piece of scripture.. IT IS FOOF FOR THE SOUL AND A WEAPON AGAINST THE EVIL ONE. Good luck to all those who can't be bothered or see it as no use as I have it on my...... what ever. Memorize it or perish thats how simple Jesus saw it??? think about that

I guess you can also think about what the availability of the written Bible had on us as well. Think about the memorisation that went on in times past and other cultures where the written word was not available to everyone and people memorised great chunks of scripture and recited it to one another.
