Being the first of many posts on this blog, I thought I had better clarify the reason for my blogging. There are many. Here are a few.
1. In order that I might be able to encourage other Christians, and “stir them up towards love and good deeds” (Hebrews 10:24 )
2. It will give me an opportunity to hone some of my thoughts down well enough to be able to express them clearly. Often times I can share opinions on matters that I have done nothing more than think about. Sometimes this can get me into trouble as careful thought hasn’t been done. By blogging I can practice sharing and developing my thoughts (particularly about the way that Christ Jesus wants us to live and act as 21st century Christians.
3. In the hope that I will be able to track (in a flakey sort of way) my Christian growth over time. Romans 12: 2 tells us not to be conformed to the pattern of this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. It is my hope that in some way, shape or form I can use this blog to help renew my mind and explore ways that I have been conformed to the pattern of this world
4. I love it when technology Glorifies God. I get very excited when the internet, software applications, iphone apps and other tech things are used to convey the gospel message, or to enhance Christian community, or to provoke bible memory or prayer. I am hoping that this little bit of internet technology has a positive impact on the body of Christ too.
There are plenty of wrong reasons to blog too. I hope to avoid them and in doing so offer something of worth to my own life, your life and more importantly to my saviour.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” – Romans 12:2

Welcome (perhaps back) to the blogosphere Geoff, I look forward to reading your thoughts. If you hit just one of those goals you’ll be doing fine, and better than most.
I’m only knew at blogging but I can see value in it. It is indeed easy to conform to the world, be pushed around by the world and be intimidated by the world.
A verse has kept coming back to me this week. Young Timothy has been whimping it seems – been frightened and tearful even. Persecution was very real for him and is for us as real disciples.
The verse is 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
The Holy Spirit given to us is greater than the world. We need to remember that so we are less inclined to whimp.
Keep up your blogging.
