Part Two of Post Mission of a Mother: Challenge 2
Word Two: Positive
My natural bent is towards negativity. I have no idea why, but as far back as I can remember I have been a pessimist. It is something I have acknowledged, owned, and am working on changing. It’s not easy, but nor is it something that I want to pass on to my children. So I’m trying to change it. What does that look like?
eg. Encouraging my children when things are tough
Praising my children for their successes, and for trying their hardest in failure
Accepting that being a parent is hard and not putting myself down.
Finding joy in each day and life stage, rather than wishing time away
“always look on the bright side of life”
… stay tuned for Word Three…
Wow this hits me hard too. I find that I am really positive for and to my kids but am really negative on myself. This is not being a good role model so I too know that it is something that I have to work on as actions do speak louder than words and how can you preach positivity on your children when you don’t practice it on yourself. I think this is a great word to add to your philosophy!!
