I recently did a talk at SDBC Youth’s infusion on friday night. I did it on 2 Timothy 3:1 – 4:8. It is Paul giving some Timothy some great life advice. Here is the gist of what I said.. .
The key points that this passage challenges us with is to..
1. Get some good company (friends) rather than those that are gonna drag you away from God.
2. Get a good role model. Someone who has lived and breathed as a Christian and done the hard yards for God.
3. Get stuck into the word, because it is from God, for our use and it is very useful.
Then I challenged them to think about when Jesus will return (because he is returning). When he returns he will judge the living and the dead, and he will know his sheep. Doing these three things will help keep people heading towards the good fight, so that like Paul we can all finish the race and be happy with how we have gone with it, and love it when Christ comes back.
I also showed them this video clip.. It is a good one .. some little bits and pieces in there that I may not fully agree with.. but it is good stuff for the most part.. watch it ..
There will be plenty of scared people around when he returns.. But not me… I am one of his…
Great Passage and a great clip.
I like it. Gutsy and forthright. The clip expresses a firm resolve to be a disciple of Jesus. With out that determination we wont make it. It’s tough out there.
I like the way you listened to the passage and followed it instead of heading off into your own ideas. Because of that It comes with God’s authority to me. At last someone who let’s God set the agenda. God’s spirit in me recognises God’s words through you. Connection! See John 10:3-5
Thank Graham, I am encouraged by your comments.
All scripture is God breathed and useful for teaching rebuking and correcting.
I love it! What a gift to us! Praise God!
