COOKING DISASTER #1: Cupcakes. How hard can they be?
I have this recipe book, about 300 pages long… and if you hold it up and let it drop open at a random page, it always opens at the cupcakes page. Why? Cause that’s the only recipe I use from the book, and I use it often!
Last week however, Sal and Jess came over and we did some cooking. Potato bake, rissoles and cupcakes. There was only one problem. The cupcakes were put on the shelf directly below the potato bake, so when they rose, they rose straight into the potato bake. Needless to say, the tray was pulled out, and the tops of all the semi-cooked cupcakes came off. The ‘tops’ of the cupcakes, left smeared all over the oven tray above, thus baked on well.
Jo & I purchased a Soft Serve Icecream machine on Clearance from K-Mart some time ago. We paid $10 each for it. What a bargain! At dteam last week we tested it out, to celebrate the year 12’s leaving (bubbye Katie & Lesley). One word: CREAMY!
Today, Monday 13th of November, I have finished uni forever (foreseeable future) !!!!!!!!!! I did my last assignment, which is due on Friday, in one day. I was that excited, I was determined to get it done!
So what now? Well, next Monday I go back to work looking after my little darlings. But until then… I’m getting my hair done, going to read a few books, watch a few dvd’s and clean up the house a bit. (QUITE a bit, for anyone who’s been here recently and seen the mess!)
Until next time, Toodles!
A poem, dedicated to Jo…
Who I still don’t quite understand.
She nags me to do my assignments, and she nags me to blog.
What is one to do????
My uni days are nearly done,
In 19 days I can just have fun.
My heads gotta face the screen, 3 more assignments til I can scream!
It’ll all soon be over, so I can just sit on my bum!
There is a new Jars of Clay album out called Good Monsters. As always with Jars of Clay, it’s a fantastic album. The Chorus of my favourite song (Dead Man) goes like this…
So carry me
I’m just a dead man
Lying on the carpet
Can’t find a heartbeat
Make me breathe
I want to be a new man
Tired of the old one
Out with the old plan
Thats what I feel like sometimes. I want to be something better than I am for God. A better servant, a better Kingdom worker, but I sometimes find it hard even to find the pulse of God’s Spirit in my life. I love the fact that God will sustain me through it and make me his man.
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.
– Psalm 55:22
..who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Jesus Christ.
– 1 Corinthians 1:8
Our God loves and sustains us! Great news! Great news!

I found this really cook site the other day – www.bookcrossing.com It’s a site that tracks books. THe idea is that you read a book, register it with the site and put a label in it, then leave it somewhere for someone else to find. When they find it, they log it onto the site to say they’ve found it, read it and leave it somewhere for someone else to find. Way cool !! Geoff and I are gonna try it sometime and see where our book will go…
A fortnight in the life of a blogger…
Well, it has been a while since we’ve blogged… so let me fill you in on some things. Geoff has been teaching fulltime. I have been looking after kids fulltime. Geoff has been playing music at church. Hayley has been doing uni assignments. He has been a youth leader. I have been a dteam coach. Mr Eggins has been putting out the rubbish. Mrs Eggins has been doing the laundry. We’ve been busy!
But amongst all that, a few exciting things have happened…
Yes, that’s right. WE HAVE PURPLE-ISH WALLS!!! Actually, our lovely & kind landlords decided to install air-con into our study. So that’s where we’ll live over summer when home.
I also decided last week to bake a massive “chicken & cashews” stirfry, minus the cashews and beans, plus a bit of brocoli & cauli for good measure.
We also went on a shopping trip, and I was able to buy a new watch, to utilize the very practical gift of a gift certificate I got for my birthday (*happy birthday to me*).
Well, that’s about it for now…
See you in a little while!!!
I’ve just finished my 5th-last assignment for my degree… woohoo!! The countdown is on! Anyway, being a distance student, I post in all of my assignments. Congratulations to Australia Post for making this 5th last assignment look so professional!
COMPETITION: WHAT THE ????
For your chance to win a wonderful prize, have a guess at what the picture below is. Once entry per person, write your guess as a comment to this blog.
Updated: 22 September
AND THE ANSWER IS…
Icing mixture moulded from a measuring cup, in a bowl with cocoa…
(We were making choc icing for our cupcakes @ dteam!!)
You’re right, Steve. It has been a LONG time since anyone has blogged – nearly a month! So I’m going to blog for those 2 lazy bro’s!
Geoff and I are walking around these days with sore teeth. You might ask why. The answer is quite simple – pineapple lumps! Thanks to the lovely and generous Scott & Jo, we have a 2KG box of pineapple lumps just sitting around our place. It was a wonderful birthday present for Geoff, and has given us quite a few laughs… but boy, not good for the teeth! 🙂
It’s quite strange, but even with that half-eaten box in the house I’ve managed to lose 3kg this past month!
