Today, my husband wrote me a little song. He put lots of time and effort into it. He sang it to the tune of The Chicken Dance, so when you read it you have to hum it along to the Chicken Dance tune too, otherwise it won’t quite have the same ring to it. This is how it went:
You have your period
And a nasty head cold
Add very grumpy kids
And a very messy house {repeats}
Isn’t it lovely?? I smiled, got a hug, and went back to getting lunch for those gumpy kids, whilst having hot/cold flushes.
When I have a cold, I’m usually able to take it easy for a day and then I’m able just to kick on. This week though, I’m exhasuted. Apart from just a blocked nose, sore throat and blocked/ringing ears, I have been dizzy, hot/cold and my chest is really sore. I’ve been struggling to stay awake to the kids and have been really REALLY impatient.
So here I am, giving myself a hard time about how I’m not coping (Kat, you can come slap me now). My legendary husband rightly points out to me though, that the song should be an encouragement to me. At this point in time, I am not going to be “on top of my game”. I’m allowed to cut myself a little slack at this point and not judge and critisize myself. There are a number of good reasons why I’m feeling this way. You would think I would have learnt to lower my own expectations by now a bit, hey?!

Haha. Soup is better than slapping when you are sick. Do you want soup?
Soup or slap mmmmm I’ll take the soup any day.
🙂 Haha
What a lovely, encouraging song 🙂 It sounds like you both have a sense of humour. I hope you feel better soon.
